Classes

The shows throughout the year, offer a range of classes to meet everyone’s skill level; from Entry -level to Open. Below is a list of classes, sorted by division, which are offered at the ORHA sanctioned shows.

Green As Grass Riders, who have not shown in any reining competitions other than saddle club, Green As Grass classes, ORHA Funstyle or ORHA Beginner, may show in this class until the end of the year in which 30 points have been accumulated. ORHA Non-Pro or  ORHA Youth The rider can choose to ride with one or two hands and modified patterns, ORHA Patterns 90-93, are used.
Green As Grass – Youth Riders must be 16 or under as at January 1 that year, who have not shown in any reining competitions other than saddle club, Green As Grass classes, ORHA Funstyle or ORHA Beginner and can show in this class for a maximum of two years. ORHA Youth The rider can choose to ride with one or two hands and modified patterns, ORHA Patterns 90-93, are used.
Beginner Riders, who have not shown in any reining competitions other than saddle club, Green As Grass classes, ORHA Funstyle or ORHA Beginner, for a maximum of two years ORHA Non-Pro or  ORHA Youth The rider can choose to ride with one or two hands and NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.
Advance Beginner Riders may compete in this class indefinitely as well as in any other ORHA class or NRHA Green Reiner the same year, except the Green As Grass, Green As Grass Youth, ORHA Youth or Beginner. ORHA Non-Pro or  ORHA Youth Riders must ride one-handed. NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.
Green Reiner 1 Less than $100 lifetime NRHA earnings, less than 25 youth points, less than 50 Green points. NRHA Associate, Youth or Non-Pro. Not an ORHA Year-End Award Class Riders can choose to ride with one or two hands as well as can choose to perform simple or flying lead changes and NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.
Green Reiner 2 Less than $100 lifetime NRHA earnings, less than 25 youth points, less than 100 Green points. NRHA Associate, Youth or Non-Pro. Not an ORHA Year-End Award Class Riders can choose to ride with one or two hands as well as can choose to perform simple or flying lead changes and NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.

ORHA Youth  Riders do not have to own the horse they ride. Riders showing in NRHA Category 1 classes (Open, Non Pro, and Novice Horse classes) are not eligible for this class for that show year. ORHA Youth Riders must ride one-handed and NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.
Youth 13 & Under Open to any Youth rider who is age 13 or under on January 1 of the current NRHA year. Riders must use horses with ownership as defined in the Youth Show Rules and Regulations NRHA Youth (ORHA Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Riders must ride one-handed. NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.
Youth 14-18 Open to any Youth rider who is age 14 to 18 on January 1 of the current NRHA year. Riders must use horses with ownership as defined in the Youth Show Rules and Regulations NRHA Youth (ORHA Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Riders must ride one-handed. NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.

Rookie 1 Less than $500 or 200 Youth points in lifetime earnings. Riders do not need to own the horse they are riding but the horse must have a Competitive License and the owner must hold  current NRHA membership NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Rookie 2 Less than $1500 or 300 Youth points in lifetime earnings. Riders do not need to own the horse they are riding but the horse must have a Competitive License and the owner must hold  current NRHA membership NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Prime Time Rookie Open to competitors who are 50 or older as of January 1 of the current year. Entry in this class may be made only after entering either the Rookie Level 1 or Rookie Level 2 (see Edibility limits above) NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Non Pro Open to any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook. NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Intermediate Non Pro Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook  and also meets the current policy requirements as set forth by the NRHA Board of Directors (see Edibility). NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Limited Non Pro Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook and also meets the current policy requirements as set forth by the NRHA Board of Directors (see Edibility). NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Prime Time Non Pro Open to valid Non Pro competitors who are 50 or older as of January 1 of the current year, who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook. NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Novice Horse Level 1 Open to horses with under $5,000 in Lifetime earnings and any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook. NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Novice Horse Level 2 Open to horses with under $25,000 in Lifetime earnings and any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook. NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Fun-Style Non Pro or Youth. Rider does not need to own the horse they are riding but the owner and rider must be ORHA members. ORHA Non-Pro or  ORHA Youth Similar the the NRHA Free-style Class, riders included the required manoeuvres and creative their own patterns set to music. Open Any rider may show any horse in this class. NRHA Pro,Non-Pro or Youth (ORHA membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Intermediate Open Open to any rider who won less than $17,500 in the period of 1/1/2013 – 12/31/2014. Check the Eligibility page for information NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth (ORHA membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Limited Open Open to any rider with less than $ $10,000in Lifetime earnings. Check the Eligibility page for information. NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth (ORHA membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Rookie Professional Open to any rider holding a valid NRHA Professionals card with less than $2,500 in Lifetime earnings. Check the Eligibility page for information. NRHA Pro (ORHA Pro needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Novice Horse Level 1 Open to horses with under $5,000 in Lifetime earnings and rider may show. NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth (ORHA membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Novice Horse Level 2 Open to horses with under $25,000 in Lifetime earnings and rider may show. NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth (ORHA membership needed for Year-End Awards) Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Men’s Open to any male rider ORHA Pro, Non-Pro or ORHA Youth Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Ladies Open to any female rider ORHA Pro, Non-Pro or ORHA Youth Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.
Green Horse Any rider may show, but restricted to horses that have less than two calendar years in reining competitions. Check the Eligibility. ORHA Pro, Non-Pro or ORHA Youth The rider can choose to ride with one or two hands and NRHA patterns 1-11 are used.
