ORHA Reining Classes

The shows throughout the year offer a range of classes to meet everyone’s skill level; from Entry -level to Open. Below is a list of classes, sorted by division, which are offered at the ORHA sanctioned shows. ENTRY LEVEL REINING

Reining is the fastest growing equine sport today and getting started has never been easier. Both the ORHA and the NRHA offer tiered entry level classes allowing beginner riders the opportunity to compete against others with similar skill levels, develop reining experience and have fun. For all entry level class, participants are NOT required to own their own horse and the horse does not need a competition licence to compete

BECOME A MEMBER

Entry Level

  • Eligibility
    Less than $350 lifetime NRHA earnings, less than 175 youth  points (exclude SS), less than 350 Green points.

    Memberships
    ORHA Youth or Non-Pro.

    Patterns & Info
    Riders can choose to ride with one or two hands as well as can choose to perform simple or flying lead changes and NRHA patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Less than $200 lifetime NRHA earnings, less than 75 youth points (exclude SS), less than 200 Green points.

    Memberships
    NRHA Associate, Youth or Non-Pro. An ORHA membership is needed for ORHA Year-End Awards

    Patterns & Info
    Riders can choose to ride with one or two hands as well as can choose to perform simple or flying lead changes and NRHA patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility

    NRHA Associate, Youth or Non-Pro. An ORHA membership is needed for ORHA Year-End Awards

Youth

  • Eligibility
    Riders 18 years of age or younger as of January 1st and who have not earned more than 25 Youth points (excluding Short Stirrup points).

    ORHA Youth

    Patterns & Info
    Riders can choose to ride with one or two handed, however two handed riders may not cross enter into NRHA Youth classes. NRHA patterns 1-16 are used. 

  • Eligibility
    Open to any Youth rider who are 13 or under on January 1 of the current year. Riders must use horses with ownership as defined in the Youth Show Rules and Regulations.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth. ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Patterns & Info
    Riders must ride one-handed. NRHA patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any Youth rider who is age 14 to 18 on January 1 of the current NRHA year. Riders must use horses with ownership as defined in the Youth Show Rules and Regulations.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth. ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Riders must ride one-handed. NRHA patterns 1-16 are used.

Non-Pro

  • Eligibility
    Less than $500 or 200 Youth points in lifetime earnings. Riders do not need to own the horse they are riding but the horse must have a Competitive License and the owner must hold current NRHA membership.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro. An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Less than $1500 or 600 Youth points in lifetime earnings. Riders do not need to own the horse they are riding but the horse must have a Competitive License and the owner must hold current NRHA membership.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro.  An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    For persons 50 and older as of January 1 of the current year. Less than $1500 or 600 Youth points in lifetime earnings. Riders do not need to own the horse they are riding but the horse must have a Competitive License and the owner must hold current NRHA membership.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro. An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Patterns & Info

    Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro. ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook.

    Memberships
    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro. ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook and also meets the current policy requirements as set forth by the NRHA Board of Directors (see Eligibility).

    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro. ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Patterns & Info
    Horses are to be shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Non Pro rider, 50 and older as of January 1 of the current year, who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook and also meets the current policy requirements as set forth by the NRHA Board of Directors (see eligibility).

    NRHA Youth or Non-Pro (ORHA Non-Pro or Youth membership needed for Year-End Awards)

  • Eligibility
    Open to horses with under $5,000 in Lifetime earnings and any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook.

  • Eligibility

Open

  • Eligibility
    Any rider may show any horse in this class.

    NRHA Pro,Non-Pro or Youth An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any rider who won less than $10,000 in the period of 1/1/2019 – 12/31/2019. Check the Eligibility page for information.

    Memberships
    NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth (ORHA membership needed for Year-End Awards)

    Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-11 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any rider with less than  $7,500 in the period of 1/1/2019 – 12/31/2019. Check the NRHA Eligibility page for information.

    Memberships
    NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth. An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Patterns & Info
    Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any rider holding a valid NRHA Professionals card with less than $5,000 in Lifetime earnings. Check the NRHA Eligibility page for information.

    Memberships
    NRHA Professionals. An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

  • Eligibility
    Open to horses with under $5,000 in Lifetime earnings and any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook.

    NRHA Pro,Non-Pro or Youth An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards

    Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to horses with under $25,000 in Lifetime earnings and any valid Non Pro rider who meets the requirements as defined in the Non Pro section of the NRHA Handbook.

    NRHA Pro,Non-Pro or Youth An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards

    Patterns & Info
    Horses are shown one handed and NRHA Patterns 1-16 are used.

  • Eligibility
    Open to any male or female rider.

    Memberships
    No membership required.

    Patterns & Info

  • Eligibility
    Restricted to horses that have no experience showing in reining competition prior to January 1st of the current year.  May be ridden by any level of rider holding a valid ORHA membership.

    Memberships
    ORHA Pro, Non-Pro or ORHA Youth

    The rider can choose to ride with one or two hands and NRHA patterns 1-16 are used.

Other

  • Eligibility
    Any rider may show any horse in this class.

    Memberships
    NRHA Pro, Non-Pro or Youth. An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Patterns & Info
    Horses are shown one handed and AQHA Patterns are used.

  • Eligibility
    Any Non-Pro or Youth rider may show any horse in this class.

    Memberships
    NRHA Non-Pro or Youth. An ORHA membership is needed for Year-End Awards.

    Horses are shown one handed and AQHA Patterns are used.
